Christmas Update 2020

Well dear friends we have come to nearly the end of the most extraordinary and difficult year that most of us (certainly me) can ever remember.

We mourn for those lost and grieve with those who have lost loved ones, including customers of the bookshop here and I hope that you all have been able to get through 2020.

But we can also look forward to the future and to things getting better and I pray that is the case for each and every one of you.

At the shop this year we have had the most challenging of circumstances: we have endured 2 lockdowns and managed to relocate the entire shop in between them! We have had to go most of the year without our wonderful volunteers and myself and Ruth have been on and off furlough for large parts of it. Yet we have survived and now the bookshop too, safely and happily in a new home, looks forward to a new and exciting year to come.

A couple of things I wanted to share with you.

Last Thursday we were honoured to welcome Tim Farron MP as our guest of honour for a brief ceremony to mark our (delayed and socially distanced) reopening. Tim of course as well as our local MP was also our best selling author of 2019. He was effusive in his praise of the bookshop and the work we do.

And on Tuesday, we bid farewell to our amazing Deputy Manager Ruth, who is moving to Derbyshire to be nearer family. We thank her for all the brilliant work she has done, and she will be much missed from the shop.

We are so grateful to God for all His goodness and faithfulness; and to all of you for your support this year.

Finally,to let you know that the shop is now closed until January 5th for the Christmas and New Year period.

Happy Christmas, and Happy New Year

Matt
