As we are all aware, the trading conditions for Christian bookshops have been very difficult for the last decade or so.
Despite our move to new premises, which significantly reduced our costs, sales have not returned to pre-pandemic levels. This unfortunately means that we continue to suffer monthly losses which we cannot sustain indefinitely.
In 2024 we have a break clause which provides us with the opportunity to end our current lease. The Trustees have therefore, reluctantly taken the decision that there is a need to work towards closing the business in a coordinated way, that is honouring to the Lord and to all our partners, supporters, suppliers and volunteers.
We will continue to trade as usual over Christmas 2023 and Easter 2024, and for some time afterwards.
We would appreciate your continued support over the coming months which remain critical to us being able to fulfil our financial responsibilities. So, if you are thinking of buying a particular book or stocking up on Christmas or Easter cards for next year, the next few months would be an ideal time to do so!’
